Rangala House

Rangala House is a converted tea-planter’s bungalow offering top class accommodation in the Hill Country of central Sri Lanka, on the edge of the Knuckles Conservancy Region. Behind the house, the tea estate rises steeply and is attractively dotted with shade trees and huge igneous boulders – common hill country features.

There is a large sitting room with double French windows, a stone fireplace and spacious dining area. The LED TV has many satellite channels as well as all the local stations and there is also a DVD player. For music lovers, there is a high quality sound system (classical and jazz CDs available) and a Roland electric piano. Broadband wifi is available in all room and is free of charge. Adjacent to the sitting room there is a western-style kitchen, fully equipped with all mod cons and finished in solid mahogany. Guests are welcome to come and talk to the resident chef – and perhaps pick up some tips on cooking curries Sri Lankan style!

There are three bedrooms in the main villa and two more, ‘The Studio’ and ‘The Breadfruit Room’ in a building which is immediately adjacent.

All rooms are ‘en suite’. The hot water in all bathrooms is solar heated, with electric back-up. The Bay Window Room has a bathroom with bath tub as well as shower. The others have showers.

All the rooms except The Studio are twin or double. That is to say, they contain two 3ft beds which can be put together to make a 6ft king-size double as required. These beds have been specially designed to fit together closely with no central gap.
