La Pirogue is located on the east coast in the village of Mahambo.

The rooms and bungalows are scattered in the heart of a beautiful and lush tropical garden on the edge of a wonderful crystalline lagoon protected by a massive coral reef. The accommodation is tastefully decorated with traditional rosewood furniture, Malagasy artwork, and have private bathrooms with hot water.

The restaurant overlooks the beautiful beach and ocean. The menu proposes quality fusion cuisine of local flavours and French gastronomy, fish specialities and seafood. The Bambou Bar overlooking the lagoon is a great meeting point to enjoy a refreshing drink including a wide selection of house rums.

From July to September, humpback whales move into the waters of Saint Marie to give birth to their calves. Saint Marie has a multitude of dive sites, including several wrecks with stunning underwater fauna to discover.
For hiking enthusiasts, the forests of Kalalao or Ambohidena are dotted with small villages giving you the opportunity to discover fauna and endemic flora and to meet a welcoming population.
